Another Year, Another Manufacturer

Happy New Year to everyone. I sincerely hope we can leave the dramas of 2020 behind us and move on into 2021 with renewed hope. Although it looks as though we still must endure a little more inconvenience, I am very hopeful that this pandemic will soon draw to a close.

This is the first blog post I have managed to do for a while, purely because we have been so busy. Since September we have constantly been fully booked for at least 4 to 5 weeks at a time and even now, at the time of writing, we are booking jobs well into February. This is fantastic for us as it means we seem to be riding these rollercoaster times very well, nobody has had to be furloughed or made redundant which I am extremely happy about. We are even potentially looking at taking another engineer on in the near future along with the plan of an apprentice later in the year so that we can do our bit to help out a young person and guide them into great and rewarding career with us.

The Viessmen Vitodens 200-W

When I say we have been busy, the feedback I am getting from our customers, new and old, is that our knowledge, expertise, quality of products and standards of workmanship are really shining through. I have said in previous blog posts that we are not the cheapest in our local area, quite the opposite in fact. But our pride in our work, continuous hunger for knowledge, constant training and product research has made us great value for money when it comes to the end results we are producing for our customers. We are installing an ever-increasing number of new boilers and other efficiency upgrades to help save our customers money and increase comfort levels in their homes.

During the last 2 months, Peter and I have had further training in hydronic system design, hot water delivery systems, water regulations updates as well as an energy efficiency course. So as always you can be sure that our knowledge of our industry is up to date. To add to this and further keep us up to date with our rapidly changing industry, both Pete and I will be completing our training on heat pumps (Air and ground source) over the next 3 months so we can comply with and operate under ever tightening government regulation to reduce household carbon emissions.

That is an update as to what we have been up to over the past couple of months, and to add to that we have also paired with another manufacturer, Viessmann. In our never-ending quest to search out the best products and manufacturers, we have found Viessmann to offer us a major boost. We have been fitting a lot of Viessmann boilers over the past couple of months and the standards we are achieving have gone to another level again.

Viessmann are a German manufacturer, they make domestic and commercial products ranging from boilers, to heat pumps, to solar thermal panels and even hydrogen fuel cells. The range of technologies on offer with Viessmann makes them the perfect manufacturer for us to work closely with given where our business is heading. We are extremely excited for the future with Viessmann products and even more excited to see what fun and interesting projects we can take on. Viessmann do a lot of training with their installers which we have also been making full use of in our free time.

We have fitted almost the entire range of Vitodens domestic gas boilers available withing the range and all of them perform at the highest levels. The design, technology and materials used within the boilers is fantastic. The components and component manufacturers are married together to give the most efficient and reliable operation.

The flagship Vitodens 200-W is just about the most advanced and clever boiler I have ever seen. It has the highest available burner modulation of 1:17 which gives a low fire rating of 1.9KW. This sounds like Japanese to most I know, but in essence, our climate is very mild here in the UK believe it or not, so most boilers in your homes will be grossly over sized for mild times of the year. Most boilers here in the UK will have a low rating of around 5KW which is too high for the average property on a mild day. This leads to inefficient boiler cycling (regular on/off operation) and reduced efficiency. A low rating of 1.9KW on the Vitodens 200-W keeps the boiler burning for longer at a very low rate, thus reducing cycling and keeping the efficiency as high as possible on those milder days.

The usability of the boiler from an engineer’s point of view is also fantastic as we can tailor the temperatures and heat inputs of the boiler depending on the external temperatures and heat loss properties of your individual home.

From a customer’s point of view, this leads to increased comfort, increased efficiency, lower bills, and lower carbon emissions. And with the Wi-Fi connectivity of the boiler paired directly with your smart devices, the user has ultimate control over their heating and the boiler even notifies the customer and installer if there is a fault for rapid detection and fault resolution.

That is just a quick insight in to the Vitodens 200-W but the full range of Viessmann boilers are fantastic, and when paired with the Zeparo range of IMI products and our deep technological understanding of hydronic system design, we are producing outstanding results in comfort, reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

This brings us up to date with where we are at the start of 2021. I am determined to make these blog posts as regular as possible and we have lots of subjects and topics which we can cover and introduce our readers to. We are very much looking forward to another year of growth at FJM.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and we wish you all the best for 2021.
