Keeping FJM Moving Forward
Bit of an off piste blog post today but these times we are facing with the virus outbreaks do make you sit back and evaluate your position in the local market as a business.
Even before the virus outbreak forced us in to lockdown in February or March, I can’t remember now it seems ages ago, at FJM we were very much on top of the game. We offer fantastic service, great products, we are pretty much always early to our appointments let alone on time. We have plenty of work and even in these hard times we have managed to survive really well showing the resilience of our company and the trust which our customers have in us. So for this I am extremely grateful.
But coming out the other side of this difficult period, we have been striving to raise the bar again. Peter and I have been putting hours and hours of research in to all of the products we use, the products we offer and the way in which we go about our job. Even down to the clips we use to hold pipework and cleaning that pipework before we leave so that the whole job is absolutely gleaming to give that wow factor for our customers. We were doing a top job anyway and I would always place us at the top end of our market locally in terms of the quality of how we work, but now is the time to really raise that bar up a few levels and leave our local competition behind.
So we have actually now identified several different products and methods with how we work to give our customers an outstanding 6 star job every time which will make very little difference to our customers pockets. We have been straight to a German manufacturer IMI Hydronics who supply what I can only describe as ‘Bomb Proof’ central heating products which are at the leading edge of technology. Their products are next level compared to anything we have seen. The heating filters, aeration devices and thermostatic radiator valves to name a few, are incredible. We have fitted these products in our own homes along side your normal Magnaclean, Spirotech and Drayton offerings. There is no comparison, IMI is in a different league.
We are also using Walraven pipe rail systems and brass munson clips to install our pipework beautifully. There is a time and a place for plastic clips, sure there is, but they do not give a wow factor and high end look. We have been looking extensively at how we join fittings. We used to use a lot of PTFE, nothing wrong with this, but the devil is in the detail now. PTFE often leaves a trail of white tape on the outside of a fitting like a radiator tail. So we have now moved over to using a ROCOL thread sealer which dries completely clear and can actually cope with over 100 times more pressure then PTFE. No messy tape any more, just clean lines and perfection.
Approaching IMI is just one of the things we have done. We have been educating ourselves with an even deeper understanding of heating system design and really getting in to the technical underpinning knowledge so we can guarantee that pin point accuracy every time for our customers.
So look out for us, look out for our work, I think you will all be impressed. There will be pictures and videos coming soon.
As a company this has led us nicely on to producing our mission statement. We are constructing a set of values for how we work and why. And our next blog is going to be our opportunity to reveal this to the world. I cant wait to get it out and I cant wait to see the word spread on our work. It’s going to be fun.
Have a great weekend everyone
